WALANG PASOK – Several local government units declared class suspensions in some areas due to hot weather condition.

Prolonged exposure to hot weather condition can increase the risk of heat-related illnesses such as heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Symptoms may include dizziness, nausea, headache, and confusion, which can disrupt students’ ability to engage in classroom activities.

On Monday (April 1, 2024), several areas have decided to suspend classes because of the scorching heat brought by El Niño. The announcement was made to ensure the safety and well-being of students, teachers and staff.

Various cities and municipalities in Negros Occidental announced that there will be no face-to-face classes from preschool to senior high school, whether in public or private schools.

In Tantangan, South Cotabato, half-day classes will be held for April 1 to 15 across all levels in public and private schools.

Mayor Jerry Treñas released an executive order announcing the cancellation of face-to-face classes for senior high school and lower grades for April 1-2, 2024 in Iloilo City. He urged school personnel to take necessary precautions to safeguard the health and safety of everyone on school premises.

Some schools might temporarily shift to alternative learning methods to make up for the canceled face-to-face classes.
