DepEd To Probe Viral Teacher Scolding Students in Controversial TikTok Video

DEPED – The education department has issued a show cause order against a viral teacher scolding her students while live streaming on TikTok.

On Monday (March 18, 2024), the Department of Education (DepEd) took action following a viral video showing a public school teacher scolding her students in a viral video.

The video shows the teacher angrily reprimanding her students for alleged misbehavior in class. She expressed frustration at being disrespected and emphasized her qualifications as a professional educator.

A show cause order was issued against the unnamed teacher who was given 72 hours to explain her actions.

DepEd assistant secretary for field operations Francis Cesar Bringas announced that an investigation into the incident will be conducted. The investigation may lead to clarifications regarding the department’s guidelines on the use of social media by its personnel.

“The regional office has issued a show cause order to the concerned teacher giving her 72 hours to submit an explanation why she should not be charged administratively and this is part of the due process we have in dealing with these cases,” Bringas said.

Bringas emphasized the importance of due process in handling such cases. The viral teacher has also been instructed to explain to the school principal.
