On Friday (March 8, 2024), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. The northeast monsoon and easterlies will affect the country’s weather conditions.

PAGASA weather specialist Benison Estareja reported that the northeast monsoon will be affecting Northern Luzon while the easterlies will affect the rest of the country.

“Patuloy pa rin ang epekto ng dalawang weather systems sa ating bansa, una na po diyan ay ang unti-unting lumalakas na amihan northeast monsoon dito po sa Northern Luzon kung saan magdadala po ng bahagyang pagbaba ng temperatura at mahihinang pagulan,” said Estareja.

The northeast monsoon will bring cloudy weather with light rains over Batanes and Cagayan.

The northeast monsoon will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains over the Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, and the rest of Cagayan Valley. The Visayas will experience a fair weather condition except for chances of isolated light rains.

The easterlies and localized thunderstorms will bring similar weather conditions over Metro Manila and the rest of the country.

The other parts of the country will experience hot and humid weather due to the effects of the easterlies.

Habang sa natitirang bahagi ng Luzon, Visayas at Mindanao patuloy ang mainit at maalinsangan na panahon dulot pa rin ‘yan ng easterlies,” he added.

The weather agency warned the residents in the affected areas for possible flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms.

No weather disturbances are spotted entering or forming within the Philippine area of responsibility.

Meanwhile, the coastal water condition over Northern Luzon will be moderate to rough. The remaining parts of the country will have slight to moderate surrounding sea conditions. PAGASA did not raise a gale warning over the country’s seaboard.
