Have you heard about the graduate scholarship offers of the Department of Science and Technology? More popularly called DOST, the government agency is one of the scholarship providers in the country with huge allowances.
In fact, under most of its scholarship offers which include both graduate and undergraduate scholarships, the DOST provides scholars with assistance for the tuition and other school fees, monthly allowance, insurance, as well as allowances for the following:
- Transportation Allowance
- Thesis Allowance
- Learning Material Allowance
- Connectivity Allowance
One of the scholarship programs of the Department of Science and Technology is the Accelerated Science and Technology Human Resource Development Program or also popularly called the ASTHRDP. - Learning Materials and/or Connectivity Allowance — Php 20,000 per year
- Transportation Allowance — Actual
- Insurance Coverage — Premium
- Outright Thesis/ Dissertation Allowance — 60,000
- Student Research Support Fund:
- Research Grant — Php 114,000
- Dissemination Grant — 75,000
- Mentor’s Fee — 36,000
Doctoral Program Scholars
- Tuition & other School Fees — Actual
- Monthly Stipend — Php 33,000
- Learning Materials and/or Connectivity Allowance — Php 20,000 per year
- Transportation Allowance — Actual
- Insurance Coverage — Premium
- Outright Thesis/ Dissertation Allowance — 100,000
- Student Research Support Fund:
- Research Grant — 253,000
- Dissemination Grant — 150,000
- Mentor’s Fee — 72,000
According to DOST, with regards to the Transportation Allowance, a scholar has the privilege to be assisted one (1) actual economy class round trip fare per Academic Year for scholars who study outside their home province. This is on reimbursement basis.
In case the scholar was able to complete his/her degree earlier than the prescribed period, the remaining monthly stipends will still be given.
