Authorities have an update on the Catherine Camilon case
Witnesses said that beauty queen Catherine Camilon who went missing last year may be already dead.
Catherine, who joined the Miss Grand Philippines 2023 pageant, was reported missing in October 2023. She was last spotted in a CCTV footage from a mall in Batangas. The prime suspect that was linked to her disappearance was Police Major Allan de Castro who was detained a month after she went missing. The police officer denied his involvement in this case but later on, he admitted their “illicit relationship.”
Catherine’s parents’ DNA matches the hair and blood samples taken from an abandoned car. Witnesses said they saw a bloodied woman being placed inside the car.
In a previous report, it was stated that the driver of the prime suspect surrendered. Jeffrey Magpantay surrendered to the authorities last January 9. He was the personal driver of Allan De Castro.
In a report from Inquirer, Region 4-A’s Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) deputy Maj. Nilo Morallos said that based on the accounts of witnesses, Catherine Camilon is possibly dead.
“We are hoping for the best, but we are expecting the worse. Hindi po namin masabi kung wala na po talaga, pero base po sa account ng witnesses namin it appears na ‘yun na nga po, na patay na po,” Morallos said.
Back in November, two witnesses claimed that they saw the body of Catherine being transferred from one vehicle to the other. After that, the CIDG recovered an abandoned car with no license plate that corresponded to the description of the witnesses at a vacant lot on the corner of Dumuclay Road and Star Tollway in Barangay Pallocan East.
The car was brought to Camp General Miguel C. Malvar in Batangas City for investigation.
