Eat Bulaga Latest News: TVJ Secures Trademark

EAT BULAGA LATEST NEWS – The court ordered Television and Production Exponents Inc. (TAPE) and GMA-7 to refrain from using the trademark.

This includes the “EB,” “Eat Bulaga” and the Eat Bulaga jingle as based on the latest update, the ruling favored the TVJ. This is after the trio filed copyright infringement and unfair competition versus TAPE and GMA.

In a new update, Eat Bulaga trademark recognized as owned by TVJ based on recent resolution.

EAT BULAGA – The Marikina Regional Trial Court favored TVJ in the trademark and here’s what the recent resolution stated.

The Marikina Regional Trial Court released the rulings over the trademark issue and the rulings favored the hosting trio of Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto, and Joey de Leon. The resolution officially gave them the trademark ownership of “Eat Bulaga” after filing a case versus Television and Production Exponents Inc. (TAPE).

In a Facebook live on January 5, the former senate president read the resolution sent to them. They emerged victorious in the EB trademark battle and it stated the dismissal of TAPE’s claims of copyright infringement and unfair competition.

Based on the resolution, TAPE Inc. and GMA Network are not entitled of any usage of the trademark including the logo, the theme song, and airing of the previous episodes that was aired before May 31, 2023. To recall, this was the date TVJ left the show.

“Wherefore, judgment is hereby rendered in favor of the plaintiffs (which include TVJ) against the defendants (TAPE and GMA Network),” Sotto read.

It furthered that Intellectual Property Office (IPO) must cancel TAPE’s “Eat Bulaga!” and “EB” trademarks on all forms.

“Sa madaling salita… nanalo po tayo.” 

TVJ expressed their gratitude to the Marikina Regional Trial Court, their lawyers, the production staff, family and friends, and to the Lord. They are grateful for the support and prayers based on the Facebook live.

The trio are overwhelmed with emotion as they secured the trademark.

Meanwhile earlier, De Leon teased the viewers about “an exciting development” they are working on which will be revealed on Saturday. The viewers speculated that they will be watched in either CNN Philippines or RPN-9.
