Asia Artist Awards 2023 is held at the Philippine Arena in Bulacan and Melai Cantiveros captured attention with this interview.
Bringing together the biggest Korean artists and the most talented names in Filipino entertainment is the Asia Artist Awards 2023. This event was held for the first time in the Philippines on December 14 at the Philippine Arena in Bulacan.
The previous editions were in Vietnam and Japan.
This event celebrates and recognizes talented Asian stars in music, film, and TV. This is presented by PULP Live World and Star News Korea. The star-studded line-up of Korean acts includes NewJeans, LE SSERAFIM, Stray Kids, &TEAM, ZEROBASEONE, SEVENTEEN‘s BSS, ITZY, and more.
Among the Korean actors attendees were Kim Sejong, Ahn Hyo Seop, Kim Seon Ho, and Cha Joo Yung. Filipino talents at the event were SB19, HORI7ON, Ben&Ben, Kathryn Bernardo, Daniel Padilla, and Melai Cantiveros-Francisco.
During the event, Melai brought laughs when she was interviewed by the female host. She was seated at the table next to Kim Seon Ho and caught the Home Town Cha Cha Cha actor’s attention when she mentioned his name.
The host asked Melai, “How do you feel about attending the AAA?”
Excitedly, she stood up and quipped “annyeonghaseyo” (hello in Korean) and “arigato gozaimasu” (thank you in Japanese). In stuttering English, she expressed, “I feel like I am the first honor, a valedictorian in attending an AAA. So the best, prestigious award. I cannot believe this happening!”
She was also asked who is the artists she was expecting to meet and she answered Kim Seon Ho who was just in front of her ultimately getting his attention. She said, “Magandang buhay, maayong hapon na mga taga-Gen San, Pilipinas! Uhm, I want, I’m so very idol, Kim Seon Ho!”
She also made her trademark wacky faces and gestured as if she was melting in her excitement.
