PAGASA Says Northeast Monsoon to Bring Rainy Weather Condition Over Parts of the Country

PAGASA LATEST UPDATE – The state weather bureau reported that the northeast monsoon will bring rains over the parts of the country.

On Saturday (December 2, 2023), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. The northeast monsoon, easterlies, and localized thunderstorms will affect the country’s weather conditions.

PAGASA Weather Specialist Aldczar D. Aurelio reported that the northeast monsoon will bring cloudy weather conditions with rains over Apayao, Batanes, and Cagayan including the Babuyan Islands.

Amihan will also bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains over the Ilocos Region, Central Luzon, the rest of the Cordillera Administrative Region, and the rest of Cagayan Valley.

The easterlies and localized thunderstorms will partly cloudy to cloudy condition with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over Metro Manila and the rest of the country.

“Fair weather po tayo sa Visayas at Mindanao kung saan makakaranas po tayo ng maulap hangggang sa bahagyang maulap hanggang sa maulap na kalangitan maliban na lamang sa mga localized thunderstorms kung saan ito magbibigay ito ng paminsan-minsan na malakas na pag ulan,” Aurelio said.

The weather agency has warned the public for possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to at times heavy rains and severe thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, the coastal water condition over Luzon will be moderate to rough. The remaining parts of the country will have slight to moderate surrounding sea conditions, according to PAGASA.

Last Friday (December 1, 2023), the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) reported the effects of a low-pressure area and shear line had affected 1,157,487 people or 285,690 families.

The council reported that over 287 homes were damaged, with 227 only partially damaged and 45 totally destroyed, while 76,970 people were displaced and relocated to 172 evacuation camps.
