PAGASA Says Northeast Monsoon to Affect PH Weather Condition

PAGASA LATEST UPDATE – The state weather bureau reported that the northeast monsoon will bring rains over parts of the country.

On Monday (November 27, 2023), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. The northeast monsoon will affect the country’s weather conditions.

PAGASA reported that the northeast monsoon will be affecting Northern Luzon. Amihan will bring cloudy weather conditions with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Catanduanes and Northern Samar as well as Cagayan Valley, Apayao, Kalinga, Mountain Province, and Ifugao.

Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains are expected over the Ilocos Region and the rest of the Cordillera Administrative Region.

“Posibleng medyo mainit pa rin sa umaga at tanghali, habang malaki ang tyansa ng pag-ulan sa hapon hanggang sa gabi dahil sa localized thunderstorms,” Badrina said.

The easterlies and the localized thunderstorms will bring similar weather conditions with thunderstorms over Metro Manila and the rest of the country.

Filipinos may experience fair weather conditions with chances of scattered rainfall in the afternoon and evening due to the absence of the shear line and low-pressure area within the Philippine area of responsibility, according to weather specialist Obet Badrina.

“Dahil diyan, makararanas tayo ng generally fair weather,” he explained.

The weather agency advised the residents in the affected areas to take precautionary measures for possible flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, the coastal water condition over Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao will be moderate, according to PAGASA.

“As much as possible, avoid sailing or going out to sea in these parts of the country because we expect the seas to be very rough due to the northeast monsoon,” Badrina added.

Gale warning was raised in the following areas:

• Batanes

• Ilocos Norte

• Cagayan including Babuyan Islands

• Isabela
