PAGASA Says Shear Line, Amihan to Bring Rainy Weather Over Parts of PH

PAGASA Releases Latest Weather Update for Monday (November 20, 2023)

PAGASA LATEST UPDATE – The state weather bureau reported that shear line and amihan will bring rainy weather over parts of the country.

On Monday (November 20, 2023, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. The shear line and amihan will affect the country’s weather conditions.

PAGASA weather specialist Obet Badrina reported that shear line will be affecting the eastern section of Visayas and the Northeast Monsoon will affect Luzon.

The shear line will bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Visayas, Northern Mindanao, Caraga, Bicol Region, and Mimaropa. Flash floods or landslides are expected in these areas due to moderate to at times heavy rains.

Itong shear line ay bangaan ng mainit at malamig na hangin. Dahil sa magkaibang temperatura ay nagkakaroon tayo ng mga kaulapan at ito ay nagdadala ng pag ulan,”  Badrina said.

The northeast monsoon will bring cloudy skies with light rains over Cagayan Valley, Apayao, and Quezon.

Amihan will also bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains over Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon. The localized thunderstorms will bring similar weather conditions over the rest of Mindanao.

Severe thunderstorms will bring possible flash floods or landslides in these areas.

According to the weather agency, no low-pressure area is being monitored outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility.

Meanwhile, the coastal water condition over Luzon and the eastern section of Visayas will be moderate to rough, according to PAGASA.

A red warning level was raised over Northern and Eastern Samar. Orange warning level was raised over southern and Eastern Samar. Yellow warning level was raised over Biliran, Cebu, Southern and Northern Leyte.
