It’s Showtime received this recent recognition
Kapamilya noontime show It’s Showtime won the Best Variety Program award at the 20th Gawad Tanglaw awarding ceremony.
Amid the issues that the show is currently facing, it continues to strive to give entertainment and fun to its avid viewers. To recall, the show received a suspension decision from the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB).
It is because of the icing incident involving Vice Ganda and Ion Perez. Following the decision of MTRCB to junk the show’s petition, ABS-CBN released a statement that their camp will no longer file an appeal.
It was rumored that the noontime show will have a temporary replacement and reportedly the 12-day suspension will start on October 14.
Vice and Ion are also facing legal complaints filed by the Kapisanan ng Social Media Broadcasters ng Pilipinas, Inc. (KSMBPI). Despite all these issues, the show was recognized as the Best Variety Program, based on the article in Balita.
Aside from It’s Showtime, Kapamilya Sunday musical variety show ASAP Natin ‘To, also received the same recognition. Anne Curtis and Gary Valenciano won the “Gawad Dr. George Tumamak, Jr. para sa Sa Sining at Kultura ng Paglilingkod sa Bayan award.”
Vice Ganda was awarded with “Gawad Dr. Debbie Francisco para sa Sining at Kultura ng Pangmadlang Komunikasyon.”
The official Facebook Page of the daily noontime show expressed gratitude for receiving this award.
“Muli’t-muli, maraming salamat sa lahat ng bumubuo ng 20th Gawad Tanglaw Para Sa Sining At Kultura para sa parangal na inyong iginawad sa amin bilang “Best TV Variety Show” ngayong taon.,” the caption of the post stated.
ABS-CBN also received the “Best Media Company” and “Best Digital Media Company” awards.
