It’s Showtime Suspension Issue: ABS-CBN Will Not Appeal

IT’S SHOWTIME SUSPENSION ISSUE – The ABS-CBN network releases a statement about their decision to no longer make an appeal.

The Movie Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) suspended the noontime show for 12 days. The first attempt to appeal of GMA and ABS-CBN were denied. After discussing what to do next, the network decided not to make an appeal anymore to the Office Of The President. Here’s the statement.

It’s Showtime To Serve Suspension, To Return On October 28

ABS-CBN releases a statement about It’s Showtime serving the suspension.

IT’S SHOWTIME – ABS-CBN on Friday stated that its popular noontime show will be returning on October 28 “stronger and better”.

The cake incident between hosts Vice Ganda and Ion Perez caused the suspension order of the Movie Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB). The producer filed for motion for reconsideration to the regulatory board but this was denied.

The appeals of Showtime were denied by the MTRCB and the show was given another 15-day period.

However, a while after the denial decision had been released, the ABS-CBN released a statement stating that they would no longer make another MR. The network expressed that they will no longer appeal to the Office Of The President.

Making an appeal is supposed to be the next allowed move but they refused to do this. They will serve their 12-day suspension starting on October 14. This is to comply with the ruling of the MTRCB last September.

Though the show will be serving the suspension, ABS-CBN maintained that the show did not break any rule to merit such a judgment.

“After careful consideration, ABS-CBN has decided not to appeal to the Office of the President the decision of the MTRCB on It’s Showtime and instead serve the 12-day suspension starting October 14,” ABS-CBN shared in a statement.

“We respect the authority of MTRCB, but we humbly maintain that the program did not break any pertinent law,” they said and added, “Our heartfelt thanks to our viewers for their unwavering love and support for It’s Showtime, which will return on October 28 stronger and better than ever.”

To recall, MTRCB Board Member and Chairperson of Hearing and Adjudication Committee Atty. Paulino Cases shared that out of the 30 board members, 27 voted to deny the motion of reconsideration.
