Gladys Reyes is thankful to ABS-CBN
Actress Gladys Reyes recalled the biggest break she had in showbiz and this was an iconic role in a drama TV series.
Gladys is one of the most respected actresses of her generation. People will always remember her as Clara who made the life of Mara so miserable. She played this role so well that even years after, she still receives praise.
In a recent interview, based on the article in PUSH, Gladys expressed that she will be forever thankful to ABS-CBN for giving her the chance to play Clara in the Mara Clara series.
The actress said that it was a memorable break not just for her but also for her husband Cristopher Roxas who was also one of the cast members of the series. The series became a way for her and Christopher to be closer to each other. Eventually, love bloomed between them and after 11 years of dating, they tied the knot in 2004.
“Where we were given the memorable break of our career, and of course where I met my husband now, Christopher. And yan nga, ngayon hanggang sa may family na kami. So forever grateful ako talaga,” Gladys Reyes said.
She also mentioned that now, with the help of social media, people can easily distinguish her character from the real person that she is. Back then, there were a lot of people who got carried away with what she portrayed onscreen and they forgot that it was not the reality.
“Siguro nga malaking tulong na there’s social media because ngayon alam na nila kung ano yung totoo sa totoong buhay compared sa palabas lang. I am proud naman na I am the person that they loved to hate,” the actress said with a laugh.
Gladys Reyes also shared that the pandemic has been a blessing in disguise for their business. Although there were struggles, she and her family were able to manage the difficulties.
