The modern jeepney conductor has issued an apology for a body-shaming remark directed at a female Bacolod student.

Lanimae Joy Libo-on Mag-aro shared her traumatic experience after being publicly body-shamed by the conductor of a modern jeepney operated by Homesite RSJ Lines, Inc.

The young woman had boarded the modern jeepney for a journey from Homesite to Central Market in Bacolod City, Negros Occidental. As she was about to pay her fare, the conductor made a comment about her size and insisted that she pay for two seats instead of one.

Feeling humiliated, the victim stepped off the public utility jeepney and openly cried, overwhelmed by shame. She emphasized the urgent need to address the issue of body shaming and mistreatment.

Recently, the Facebook page “96.7 XFM Bacolod” shared video footage of the modern jeepney conductor issuing an apology to the Bacolod student. The post garnered various reactions from internet users.

The 32-year-old conductor broke his silence and apologized for his inappropriate gesture towards the student, explaining that he had intended it as a joke. He clarified that he had no intention of charging double fare to the student, but his actions resulted in his suspension.

RSJ Lines, Inc. has also issued an official statement regarding the body-shaming incident. The company offered its apologies for the unfortunate incident and condemned the inappropriate behavior of its employees.

“Internally, we have reached out to the aggrieved individual privately and have taken measures to address this situation comprehensively, including a thorough investigation and the implementation of appropriate disciplinary actions to our employee,” the company said.”
