Some netizens did not like the new project of Slater Young and this is because of this reason.
The Rise at Monterrazas is the latest project of Slater Young but for some reason, this is not appealing to some netizens.
Filipino engineer, former PBB housemate, and content creator Slater Young recently shared a spectacular project that he’s been working on for many months now. It promises a lot of things and he’s been proud in saying that this project ensured sustainability.
In his YouTube vlog, Slater shared the backstory of his newest project called The Rise at Monterrazas.
“We wanted it to be architecturally forward, something that Cebu or the Philippines has never seen before. We wanted it to be not just maganda tingnan but very, very usable din and may added benefit to the user. And lastly because we are building on the mountain side, we want the project to be sustainable as possible,” he stated.
The project had three pillars when they were designing the project and it took them hundreds of versions of iterations before coming up with the exact version of their vision. The design is inspired by the Banaue Rice Terraces, a natural landmark in the Philippines.
It’s beautiful, organic, and modern-looking as it definitely blended essential factors like nature, creativity, and functionality well. He finds working with nature fulfilling.
However, despite the sustainability and aesthetically pleasing they worked out to produce it, some netizens did not like it. On X (formerly Twitter), some people believed that it was out of touch and that the green architecture agenda is accordingly conflicting as they will destroy a natural environment for this.
Some said that it is something made by an “elitista” for the “elitistas”.
Here are some comments:
“the irony of having a green architecture agenda while destroying the natural environment”
“created by the elitista for the elitista”
“it’s so funny talaga how, usually, the rich stay sheltered or away from the public eye.”
“Truly amazing yet terrifying.”
“mangkakalbo na naman ng kabundukan”
“This isn’t something people should take lightly…”
“imagine the environmental impact”
“sobrang out of touch sa reality”
Meanwhile, in a previous article, Slater was criticized for saying men fantasizing about other women while in a relationship is “very normal”.
