Who are the richest in the Philippines? Here are the names!

RICHEST IN PHILIPPINES – Forbes released the list of 50 people richest in the Philippines on Wednesday, August 10.

Most of the Philippines’ 50 Richest based on the list released by Forbes Magazine showed an increase in their wealth. Accordingly, the combined wealth is now at $80 billion from $72 billion last year.

In the list, three newcomers were introduced namely Gotianun, Yuchengco, and Lopez families.

Based on the list, the Sy siblings are still the richest family in the country. They have a total wealth of $14.4 billion from diversified industries. They were followed by real estate and retail magnate Manuel B. Villar Jr. with $9.7 billion.

Following the first and second richest on the list are:

  • ports and gaming mogul Enrique Razon Jr. with $8.1 billion
  • San Miguel Corporation’s Ramon S. Ang with $3.4 billion
  • Jollibee founders Tony Tan Caktiong and family with $3.2 billion
  • Aboitiz family with $3.15 billion
  • JG Summit’s Lance Gokongwei and siblings with $3 billion
  • DMCI’s Isidro A. Consunji and siblings with $2.9 billion
  • Jaime Zobel de Ayala family with $2.8 billion
  • tobacco and liquor taipan Lucio Tan with $2.6 billion

The Sy siblings, the top 1 on the list, gained a $1.8 billion increase in their wealth.

Among the newcomers is the Gotianun family which is at the 22nd spot with $850 million are inheritors of conglomerate Filinvest Development from the late Mercedes Gotianun. The matriarch passed away last December.

The other newcomer is the Yuchengco family, heirs of Alfonso Yuchengco at No. 33 with $420 million. And the last one is Federico Lopez at No. 42 with $300 million who inherited a media, property, and power empire from his late father, Oscar Lopez.

The minimum net worth to be able to be included in the list is $180 million. This list was created based on the shareholding and financial information from sources like families and individuals, stock exchanges, analysts, and others.
