Forbes names Manny Villar as the Philippines’ richest man this year
Real estate mogul Manny Villar is the richest man in the Philippines in 2021, Forbes stated in its 35th annual ranking of the world’s richest people.
The former Senator is also the chairman of Vista Malls, formerly known as Starmalls). It is one of the largest mall operators in the country and is being ranked at 352 in Forbes’ list of billionaires worldwide, based on the report in ABS-CBN News.
In 2019, the husband of Senator Cynthia Villar also topped the list of richest man in the Philippines. That year, he had an estimated net worth of around $5.5 billion.
However, in 2018, he just placed second to the late business tycoon Henry Sy with $18.3 billion estimated net worth that year.
This year, the title of “richest man in the Philippines” is back to Manny Villar with a net worth of $7.2 billion or around P349.6 billion. In the world ranking, the former senator is on the 352nd spot.
Next to him is port magnate Enrique Razon with an estimated net worth of $5 billion or around P242.8 billion placing him on number 561 in Forbes’ global list.
Then, Lucio Tan is on the third spot with an estimated net worth of $3.3 billion or at least P160 billion. This makes him the 925th worldwide richest man worldwide.
Following them are Hans Sy and Herbert Sy, the hears of the Heny Sy with a net worth of $3 billion each. Along with the Sy Siblings in the number spot is liquor, and fast food taipan Andrew Tan followed.
