How did the moniker “Mr. Pure Energy” start for Gary Valenciano?
Seasoned performer Gary Valenciano shared the story behind his moniker “Mr. Pure Energy.”
Gary is known for giving lively performances during shows and concerts. He can sing and dance at the same time, and his energy is indeed remarkable while performing. This is one of the reasons why his moniker is really fit for him.
In a recent interview on Kapamilya morning talk show Magandang Buhay, Gary was asked by host Momshie Melai Cantiveros about how Mr. Pure Energy started as his nickname in the entertainment industry.
Gary Valenciano shared that many people have asked him about this. He said that it all started when he had a concert back in the 1980s.
Then, the late journalist Ernie Pecho made a review of his concert performance. When the newspaper was published, he saw that “Pure Energy” was written as the title of the article about him.
Gary said to his wife Angelie Pangilinan-Valenciano that the phrase sounds good. However, he stressed that the moniker “Mr. Pure Energy” did not come from him.
He recalled that when he guested on the late German Moreno’s show. When Gary was introduced by Kuya Germs called him Mr. Pure Energy. From that, people started calling him that moniker.

Meanwhile, in a previous interview during his contract signing with ABS-CBN, Gary said that he will always be loyal to his home network. His loyalty goes beyond the contract. He said that he will remain a Kapamilya even though he has no contract.
