Phivolcs Releases Bulletin about the Earthquake in Sarangani, July 25, 2023
EARTHQUAKE – The Phivolcs recorded a 4.6 magnitude quake in Sarangani, Davao Occidental, July 25, 2023.
Following the 4.4 magnitude earthquake in Surigao del Norte early yesterday, another significant quake was recorded by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs). The quake hit a part of Davao Occidental, specifically Sarangani. According to the agency, it had a magnitude of 4.6.
The earthquake that struck Davao Occidental, Tuesday, July 25, 2023, at 11:35 p.m. was tectonic in origin. It specifically hit Balut Island in Sarangani.
According to Phivolcs, the earthquake that hit a part of Davao Occidental was located at 02.47°North, 126.52°East – 348 km South 20° East of Balut Island. It had a depth of focus of 053 kilometers.
Phivolcs stated in its bulletin that damages are not expected from the said quake as well as aftershocks. According to the quake-recording agency, no intensity was felt and recorded due to the said quake. No instrumental intensity was recorded as well.
