Ariel Rivera Reacts to His Nickname “Kilabot ng mga Kolehiyala”

Ariel Rivera Shares Thoughts on His Nickname “Kilabot ng mga Kolehiyala”

Actor-singer Ariel Rivera gives thoughts on the alleged nickname given to him “Kilabot ng mga Kolehiyala”.

This Friday’s episode of “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda” revealed that the actor dislikes the nickname given to him. College students were among Ariel Rivera’s ardent followers during his prominence as an OPM singer and actor in the 1990s. That is why he was dubbed “Kilabot ng mga Kolehiyala.”

“I did not [like it],” said Ariel while explaining, “it was so presumptuous of me to feel na all these kolehiyalas love me. It’s so presumptuous of anybody to feel that way.”

“It’s just not me,” he added.

When Ariel arrived from Canada, he had no idea that Hajji Alejandro was the original or had previously been bestowed the title Kilabot ng mga Kolehiya. Tito Boy’s boyfriend, Bong Quintana, was among those who came up with a moniker for him, according to Ariel.

“Wala namang akong alam sa history of OPM at that time. But how could you take somebody’s title? he said.

“There were a few times, si Bong kasi would always be backstage. Sasabihin nila nina Hansel, [I’ll introduce Ariel as kilabot]. I told Bong, ‘you introduce me as that, hindi ako lalabas ng stage’,” the story of the singer-actor.

That title, however, remained with Ariel. When asked about his wildest experience with a fan, Ariel recounted one incident from his concert.

“We take girls up the stage and we give them a kiss. When it was my time for me to kiss her, she grabbed my face and — [lips to lips] kami. Tapos the next day, ka-date ko na siya,” said Ariel in the show while laughing.
