Female Criminology Student Goes Viral for Asking “Piso” to Graduate in Naga City
A female criminology student is now kindly asking the online community if they can send “piso” to her so she can graduate in Naga City.
A female student has asked for financial assistance on Facebook today in order to settle her tuition fee balance and complete her studies at a private school in Naga City, Camarines Sur. Jodie Paredes, a graduating criminology student at Naga College Foundation (NCF), had to pay more over P48,000 to settle her expenses and finish her education.
According to Paredes’ Facebook post, the epidemic is a major reason why his tuition at the aforementioned university has increased. Her participation in the NCF Chorale would have been extremely beneficial to Paredes’ family. However, due to the group’s lack of engagement during the pandemic, Paredes’ scholarship was revoked.
“Para din po maka-minus (sa school fees) and matabangan ko ang sakuyang magurang, naglaog po akong choir sa NCF back (on) March 2019. 4 years na po akong member and half po kang 4 years ko, si kang magka-pandemic, mayong choir, mayong scholarship…dakulang factor talaga ang pandemic kaya nagdakulang maray ang sakuyang babayadan,” said Paredes.
“Paredes’ family pushed for her to ask for financial help on social media. “Nakikita ko na nahihirapan sila na maghanap (ng perang pambayad) sa kulang kong balance. Ginawa ko iyong lakas ng loob para ipost po ‘yon kahit nahihiya ako,” said Paredes.
Paredes’ mother works as a maid, and his father is a contractual postman who is both disabled and elderly. Because of their state, it was difficult for Paredes to graduate as the eldest of his only siblings who interrupted school so he could finish. However, this is not an excuse for Paredes to quit and not continue.
“Kung may magagawa po kayong paraan na makatulong kahit sa ganito pong paraan na maghingi ng tulong sa ibang tao, ‘wag po kayong mahihiya kasi wala naman mawawala (sa’yo),” said Paredes.
“Nagpapasalamat po ako dahil tinulungan nila ako kahit hindi naman nila ako kilala. Yung kahit ilang amount lang yung binigay nila, sobra na po ‘yong nakakatuwa kasi kahit kaonti lang po siya, malaking bagay na po ‘yon. Maraming salamat po sa tumulong at sa mga tutulong pa po,” he added.
