Sen. Imee Marcos Speaks on Inclusion of DOJ Sec. Boying Remulla in Shortlist for Ombudsman Applicants
IMEE MARCOS – The Presidential Sister and Senator believes that there is allegedly a plan to send Vice President Sara Duterte to jail.
Former Ombudsman Samuel Martires retired in July and the position was vacant for a few months while the Judiciary and Bar Council or JBC was conducting the screening. There were 17 applicants for the position of Ombudsman.

Department of Justice Secretary Boying Remulla was one of those who applied for Ombudsman. According to him, he thinks that he has a lot to offer. He also previously confirmed that he has informed Pres. Bongbong Marcos about it.
Remulla claimed that he is confident that the DOJ will be in good hands if he will be appointed as Ombudsman. The JBC screened the applications and was set to submit a shortlist to Pres. Bongbong Marcos who will be the one to appoint the next chief graft buster.

Recently, the JBC submitted a shortlist of applicants for Ombudsman. It is composed of seven (7) names include DOJ Chief Boying Remulla. Ahead of the shortlist, presidential sister and Sen. Imee Marcos previously claimed that she will block the appointment of Remulla.

According to Sen. Imee Marcos, she will block Remulla from getting the Ombudsman post for the Duterte family. She believes that the position might allegedly be used to pressure Vice Pres. Sara Duterte or other members of the her family.
Recently, ahead of the announcement of the pick for Ombudsman, Sen. Imee Marcos had a chance interview with the media wherein she was asked about her side on the inclusion of DOJ chief Boying Remulla in the shortlist for Ombudsman applicants.
“May dalawang kandidato na talagang hindi sinundan ‘yung mga regulasyon. Biglang last minute naka produce kahit may disbarment case, kasi may Ombudsman cases. Saan ka naman nakarinig ng ganun? First time naman ‘yan,” the Senator said based on a post of ABS-CBN News.
Sen. Imee Marcos stressed that the JBC is honorable and she is asking why this happened. During the interview, the presidential sister was asked if she believes that there is a plan to send Vice Pres. Sara Duterte to jail.
“Sigurado ako,” Marcos responded.

During the interview, Sen. Imee Marcos stressed that the Ombudsman is the guard for genuine public service. She raised the question why someone with an alleged doubtful reputation will be appointed to the position.
“Yes, huling bantay. Siya talaga ang inaasahan para sa ating tunay na public service, ang tunay na bantay diyan ang Ombudsman… Bakit maglalagay ng kaduda-dudang personalidad na klaro naman, pulitiko naman ‘yan,” she expressed.
