Kapamilya actor Joshua Garcia shared his thought on the loveteam culture in the Philippine entertainment industry.
One of the unique features of showbiz in the Philippines is that celebrities are paired and shipped by their fans. Over the years, loveteams have dominated different media and their stardom is remarkable.
Although this setup is very beneficial to the careers of celebrities, it is inevitable that consequences or negative effects happened. This is what former Kapamilya actress Liza Soberano narrated in her interviews after she decided to leave her career in the Philippines to seek opportunities abroad.
In a recent interview, based on the article in PEP, Joshua Garcia was also asked about his experience of being in a loveteam. He and actress Julia Barretto did several projects together as the JoshLia loveteam.
Their tandem ended after they broke up in real life. The actor stressed that the loveteam was not detrimental to his career. For him, it is actually an advantage for loveteams who are really couples in real life.
“Ano yan parang nakakapag-work sila and they can play din at the same time. Hindi sila nalulungkot sa trabaho kasi kasama nila yung partner nila,” he said.
The actor also said that in this kind of situation, they are not just partners in front of the camera but also partners in real life. He added that it was never an issue to him being in a loveteam.
“Ako kasi yung tipo ng tao na sasabayan ko lang yung agos ng karera ko,” bulalas ni Joshua. Simula nung nagsimula ako, wala akong tinanggihan na proyekto. Dire-diretso lang yung agos na yun, sinabayan ko lang, hindi ko sinalubong,” Joshua Garcia said.
The actor stressed that he just kept on working until the time arrived that he already has the freedom to do projects as a solo artist. With this, he is nothing but grateful.
