Netizens React to Mom’s Post About Daughter Bringing Home a Stray Cat
Netizens had mixed reactions to a Facebook post by Vilma, who shared a photo of her daughter with a stray cat that she brought home.
According to Vilma, she was surprised to see her daughter arrive home early from school at 4:30 PM, when the dismissal time was 6:30 PM. Her daughter did not mention that she had a cat with her because she knew that her mom would get angry.
Vilma had already forbidden her daughter from bringing any more pets home since they already had two cats and a dog.
“6:30 PM pa po ang uwian ng anak ko kaya nagulat ako 4:30 PM pa lang tumawag na at nagpapasundo na. Ayun, pinasundo ko na doon sa tita niya. ‘Di naman niya sinabi sa akin na may dala-dala siyang pusa kasi alam niya na magagalit ako,” Vilma said.
Despite some netizens criticizing Vilma’s daughter for prioritizing the cat over her studies, Vilma clarified that her daughter is actually the top student in her class. Others showed concern for the welfare of the stray cat, but Vilma reassured them that the cat, named Kiki, is doing fine.
“Sa mga nagsasabi naman diyan na pinababayaan ng anak ko [ang] pag-aaral niya, ‘wag po kayong mag-alala dahil Top 1 ang anak ko. Sa nangangamusta naman po sa pusa ay okay naman po siya, pinangalanan po naming Kiki,” she added.
The incident sparked a debate among netizens about the responsibilities of pet ownership and parenting. Some felt that Vilma should have been more understanding of her daughter’s love for animals, while others believed that children should respect their parents’ rules.
