Eugene Domingo Says She Thought Of Entering Convent In The Past
EUGENE DOMINGO – Actress Eugene Domingo said she thought of entering a convent in the past.
Eugene Domingo is a Filipina actress, comedian, and host. She has acted in both lead and supporting roles across a range of Philippine cinema genres. She is referred to as the “Comedy Star for All Seasons” and played Ai-Ai delas Alas’ sidekick in the Ang Tanging Ina series from 2003 to 2010 before taking the lead in Kimmy Dora in 2009.
Award-winning actress Eugene Domingo admitted in Fast Talk with Boy Abunda that she was ready to be single for life and entered a convent before she met her Italian husband, Danilo Bottoni.
During Eugene Domingo’s appearance at the said program, she shared a happy conversation with the seasoned host, Boy Abunda. Aside from her life as an artist, Boy also asked about her love life with her husband Danilo.
Here, Eugene recounted that she met his husband at a time when he was “exhausted” in her life. She said, “We met at Udine Film Festival in Italy, kasi palabas doon ang Barber’s Tales, I was alone, I was exhausted in general in life, I was already surrendering to the life of being single or maybe I could enter the convent, ‘yun talaga ang iniisip ko.”

While at Udine Film Festival in Italy, Danilo Bottoni suddenly approached her and spoke to her to request an interview. Eugine said, “All of a sudden he appeared in front of me and I was scared because baka you know, stalker or something but he said, ‘I am a friend on Facebook,’ but I have no Facebook so sabi ko baka parang pick-up line, ‘yun pala he was a film critic, and he watched all Filipino films, he is a lover of Asian films and he watched Kimmy Dora, Babae Sa Septic Tank, and then Barber’s Tales and then he asked for an interview and I said, ‘I cannot give you that, you should ask permission,’ ‘yung paano pa ako ‘di ba kasi wala na doon ‘yung isip ko, okay na akong maging single.”
The interview Danilo had sought with Eugene went on, and this is when the actress seemed to have hit on her husband. “And then he arrived on the interview, he interviewed me tapos habang kinakausap niya ako, nagandahan ako sa mata niya, ang guwapo niya, tapos parang nagising ako, namulat akong ganiyan, tapos nu’ng gusto ko na siyang maging friend or ‘yung gusto ko na siyang makausap ng matagal, tinawag na siya, umalis na siya, tapos ako parang, ‘Ay wala na,’” said Eugene.
Since Eugene Domingo regretted her possible friendship with Danilo, she herself made a way to contact him.
