PAGASA Says LPA & ITCZ to Affect PH Weather Condition

The state weather bureau PAGASA reported that the LPA and ITCZ will bring scattered rains over parts of the country.

On Tuesday (May 2, 2023), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. A low-pressure area and Intertropical Convergence Zone will affect the country’s weather condition.

PAGASA reported that the a Low Pressure Area embedded along the Intertropical Convergence Zone will be affecting Mindanao and Palawan, and the easterlies affecting the rest of the country will bring rain showers.

The LPA has been last spotted at 490 kilometers east of Davao City.

“Pag-iingat para sa ating mga kababayan sa posibilidad ng mga pagbaha at pagguho ng lupa, lalong lalo na yan sa mga low lying areas sa mga malapit sa ilog, sapa, at mga bulubunduking lugar, maging sa mga areas rin na tuloy-tuloy na nakakaranas ng mga pag-ulan,” Pagasa weather specialist Grace Castañeda said.

The ITCZ / LPA will bring cloudy weather condition with scattered rainshowers over Eastern and Central Visayas.

The Easterlies / Localized Thunderstorms will bring partly cloudy to cloudy condition with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms rest of Visayas, Palawan including Kalayaan Islands and Occidental Mindoro.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country will experience similar weather condition.

The weather agency has warned the public for flash floods or landslides may result due to moderate with at times heavy rains and during severe thunderstorms.

The coastal water condition over Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao will be slight to moderate, according to the weather bureau.
