Phivolcs Releases Bulletin about the Earthquake Today in Davao Oriental, April 25, 2023
EARTHQUAKE TODAY – The Phivolcs recorded a 4.4 magnitude quake in Governor Generoso, Davao Oriental today, Tuesday, April 25, 2023.
Following the 7.3 magnitude earthquake that jolted a part of Davao Occidental a few weeks ago, another strong quake was recorded by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs). The quake hit a part of Davao Oriental. According to the agency, it had a magnitude of 4.4.
The earthquake that struck Davao Oriental, today, Tuesday, April 25, 2023, at 07:20 a.m. was tectonic in origin. It specifically hit Governor Generoso.
According to Phivolcs, the earthquake that hit a part of Davao Oriental was located at 06.16°North, 126.97°East – 113 km South 61° East of Governor Generoso in the municipality of Sarangani. It had a depth of focus of 097 kilometers.
Phivolcs stated in its bulletin that damages are not expected from the said quake as well as aftershocks. No intensity was recorded by the quake-monitoring agency as per its release. The following instrumental intensities were recorded:
- Intensity I
- Don Marcelino, Davao Occidental
- Malungon, Sarangani
- General Santos City, South Cotabato
