Phivolcs Releases Bulletin about the Earthquake Today in Surigao del Norte, April 20, 2023

EARTHQUAKE TODAY – The Phivolcs recorded a 3.2 magnitude quake in Surigao del Norte today, Thursday, April 20, 2023.

Following the 7.3 magnitude earthquake that jolted a part of Davao Occidental a few weeks ago, another strong quake was recorded by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs). The quake hit a part of Surigao del Norte. According to the agency, it had a magnitude of 3.2.

The earthquake that struck Surigao del Norte, today, Thursday, April 20, 2023, at 12:43 p.m. was tectonic in origin. It specifically hit General Luna.

According to Phivolcs, the earthquake that hit a part of Surigao del Norte was located at 09.81°North, 126.36°East – 022 km North 81° East of General Luna with a depth of focus of 013 kilometers.

Phivolcs stated in its bulletin that damages are not expected from the said quake as well as aftershocks. No intensity as well as instrumental intensity was recorded by the quake-monitoring agency as per its release.
