9th Inmate Discovered Mastermind of Pasay Jailbreak Rearrested

Police authorities rearrested the 9th inmate who allegedly initiated the jailbreak in Pasay over a non-stop manhunt operation.

Ten inmates were reported to have broken into the Malibay Sub-Station 6 detention facility of the Pasay City police. The ninth suspect, who allegedly instigated the escape, was rearrested shortly after the entire night and also as a result of the nonstop manhunt activities.

P/Col Froilan Uy’s report to Southern Police District (SPD) head P/Brig Gen Kirby John Brion Kraft identified the latest arrested fugitive as Norman Deyta y Punzalan, a.k.a. Pitpit, number 28. The inmate was charged with violating RA 9165.

Deyta was apprehended this Tuesday along Apelo Cruz St, Barangay 152, Pasay City, by a joint operation of various Pasay City police offices led by Uy. When Deyta was apprehended, the gun, a.9mm Beretta with an 8-bullet magazine owned by a jailer they beat, was retrieved from his possession.

The sixth escaping suspect, John Michael Cabe y Medellin, 22, is charged with kidnapping. Based on the report, Cabe was apprehended after a manhunt undertaken by members of the SPD’s District Anti-Carnapping Unit (DACU-SPD) at around 8:40 p.m. in front of the 7-11 convenience store located along Quirino Avenue, Barangay San Dionisio, Paranaque City.

Romeo Estopa y Marasigan, the other seventh fleeing suspect, was also apprehended, according to Uy. Estopa, who is charged with violating RA 9165, was detained by personnel of the Maricaban Sub-Station on Tuesday (April 4).

Uy stated that the number eight fugitive, Carlo Magno Benavides y Legaspi, 37, was apprehended at 7:15 a.m. in Medecion 2E, Imus City, Cavite, in a joint operation commanded by P/Maj. ACOPO Remedios Terte and P/Capt. Desalisa, Dennis (OIC-IDMS).

The arrest of Benavides, who is charged with violating RA 9165, was made possible thanks to the suspect’s relatives calling Pasay City police. Uy stated that the manhunt will continue until the last fugitive suspect, Richard Dela Cruz, who is still at large, is apprehended.
