Gov. Roel Degamo’s Wife Questions Request of Cong. Arnie Teves from House of Representatives
ROEL DEGAMO’S WIFE – Pamplona Mayor Janice Degamo reacted to the request of Congressman Arnie Teves for a 2-month leave from the House of Representatives.
The untimely death of Negros Oriental Governor Roel Degamo left countless hearts broken broken and crying for justice. The Governor, his ally, and several civilians died due to an attack at his home in Pamplona last March 4.
Men wearing pixelated uniform barged in the gate of the compound of the Degamos in Pamplona on a Saturday. It is believed that the Governor is the main target. However, there were a lot of people at their house seeking for help when the suspect pushed through with the attack.
Gov. Roel Degamo’s wife, Pamplona Mayor Janice Degamo, called to the national government for justice over the death of the Governor. The military and the Philippine National Police (PNP) are quick to investigate the case and three (3) suspects were arrested a few hours since the attack.
One of the suspects named Degamo’s political rival, Cong. Arnie Teves, as the alleged mastermind behind the attack. The Negros Oriental 3rd District Representative was already in abroad when the incident happened. His travel clearance expired last March 9 but he has yet to come home due to his fear for his and his family’s security.
Cong. Arnie Teves asked the House of Representatives for a two-month leave from the lower chamber. To this, Gov. Roel Degamo’s wife reacted at the day the Governor was laid to his final rest.
Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, Pamplona Mayor Janice Degamo questioned the request of Cong. Teves from the House of Representatives. The lower chamber has yet to decide on the said request and urges the Congressman to go home to the Philippines.
“Bakit siya hihiling ng two months na extension, eh pwede siyang umuwi at pwede kaming mag harap. ‘Yung two months extension does not make any sense,” Gov. Roel Degamo’s wife said.
The House ethics panel urges Teves to explain his failure to come home to the Philippines even after his travel clearance has expired. He is considered absent from the sessions.
