Multiple Murder Charges File vs Arnie Teves, 5 Others Over 2019 Killings
Negros Oriental 3rd district Rep Arnie Teves faces multiple murder charges along with five others due to alleged killings in 2019.
The DOJ filed murder charges against Teves for the suspected killings of three people in 2019, including former provincial board member Miguel Dungog. In addition to Teves, the Philippine National Police’s Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) has charged Hannah Mae, who is alleged to be his secretary.
While Richard Cuadra alias Boy Cuadra, Jasper Tanasan alias Bobong Tansan, and Rolando Pinili alias Inday were charged with two charges of murder, Alex Mayagma was charged with one count of murder. As of the publication of this story, no full copy of the complaint has been made available.
In 2019, the killings are said to have occurred on March 25 in Dumaguete, May 26 in Basay, and June 23 in Bayawan City, Negros Oriental. The testimonies against the respondents, according to private lawyer Levito Balingod, were falsified and delivered by someone Teves allegedly paid PHP50,000 for each murder.
The allegations include the murder of Sangguniang Panlalawigan member Miguel Dungog on March 25, 2019, in front of the Siliman University Medical Center in Dumaguete City. Dungog, a former National Bureau of Investigation agent, is expected to run for re-election in the 2019 midterm elections, based on the report.
Two further killings listed in the charge papers occurred on May 25, 2019, in Sitio Labugon, Basay town, and on June 23, 2019, in Barangay Malabugas, Bayawan City. Teves denied any involvement in the assassination of Negros Oriental Governor Roel Degamo on Monday afternoon.
