Customer Expresses Disappointment After Popular Milk Tea Shop Refused to Accept His Folded P1000 Banknote

A male customer has expressed his disappointment after a popular milk tea shop allegedly rejected his ‘folded’ P1000 polymer banknote.

The Philippine P1000 polymer banknote is part of the “New Generation Currency” (NGC) series introduced by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) in December 2021. It is one of the highest denominations in the NGC series and features various security and design elements that make it a unique and valuable piece of currency.

One of the most notable features of the P1000 polymer banknote is its durability. The banknote is made of a unique type of plastic material that provides resistance to wear and tear. It can withstand folding, crumpling, and even exposure to water without tearing or disintegrating.

Customer

There have been instances where customers have been refused service or purchases because they presented a folded P1000 banknote. This has caused frustration and inconvenience for many Filipinos who have found themselves unable to use their legal tender.

However, BSP clarified that wrinkled banknotes, whether made of paper or polymer are still valid for transactions and should be accepted in various business establishment.

A Facebook user named Ar De Ma recently shared a photo of his ‘folded’ P1000 polymer banknote on social media after a popular milk tea shop refused to accept it. The post quickly gained traction online and garnered reactions from other social media users.

Customer

The customer expressed surprise that an establishment had refused to accept his ‘folded’ P1000 banknote, and stated that it was his first encounter with such a situation. He also suggested that if folding polymer banknotes was not allowed, people should bring a book or envelope to prevent deformation.

Here is the full post:

First time nako maka encounter nga wala gidawat ang 1000 bill nga bag o kay napiko daw diri sa infinite tea. Bawal jud ba pik on ang bag o nga 1000 bill?
