Regine Velasquez Was Nervous to Sing “Gusto Ko Nang Bumitaw” W/ Morissette Amon
REGINE VELASQUEZ – Kapamilya singer and talk show host Regine Velasquez talked about her “Gusto Ko Nang Bumitaw” duet with Morissette Amon.
In an episode of “ASAP Natin To” in 2022, Asia’s Songbird Regine Velasquez and Asia’s Phoenix Morissette Amon sang Sheryn Regis’ song “Gusto Ko Nang Bumitaw.” The song is from the OST (original sound track) of the teleserye “The Broken Marriage Vow.”
Regine admitted that she was nervous during her duet with Morissette. She shared this backstory in the episode of Magandang Buhay on February 2, 2023.
In this duet, Regine Velasquez and Morissette Amon, who are well-known singers, showed off their belting powers. But Regine admitted that she felt doubtful about that duet because she wasn’t sure if she would be able to hit the high notes.
“Sa totoo lang, pinagod ako ng kantang to. Kasi yung isang kumanta nito, si Mori [Morissette], parang naghikab lang, e,” she said.

Regine Velasquez revealed that she even planned to ask to lower the keys of the high notes of the song. However, she forgot to tell the band to adjust the key so while she and Morissette were singing, she felt doubt, but she just continued singing.
“Alam mo, habang kinakanta ko to… kinakanta ko na, ah, kasi nakalimutan kong sabihin [sa banda] na, ‘Puwede niyong ibaba,’ kasi 100 years old na ako, itatapat niyo ako kay Mori, jugets [bagets].”
“’Mahi-hit ko ba?’ Ganun yung nasa isip ko. Tapos parang, sige, laban…” she added.
Regine Velasquez’s co-host Melai Cantiveros commented that Regine exceeded the demands of the song. But the singer insisted, “Pero hirap ako, sa totoo lang.”
