Phivolcs Releases Bulletin about the Earthquake Today in Surigao del Norte, January 9, 2023
EARTHQUAKE TODAY – The Phivolcs recorded a 3.2 magnitude quake in Surigao City, Surigao del Norte today, Monday, January 9, 2023.
Following the 4.3 magnitude earthquake that jolted Maguindanao del Norte a few days ago, another strong quake was recorded by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs). The quake hit a part of Surigao del Norte. According to the agency, it had a magnitude of 3.2.
The earthquake that struck Surigao del Norte today, January 9, 2023, was tectonic in origin. It specifically hit Surigao City.
According to Phivolcs, the earthquake that hit a part of Surigao del Norte was located at 09.78°North, 125.51°East – 002 km South 60° East of city Of Surigao with a depth of focus of 009 kilometers.
Phivolcs stated in its bulletin that no damages are expected from the said quake but as well as aftershocks. Based on the record released, no intensity was recorded of the said quake at the epicenter as well as nearby areas. No instrumental intensities was recorded of the said quake as well.
