Phivolcs Releases Bulletin about Earthquake Today December 9, 2022 in Maguindanao del Norte

EARTHQUAKE TODAY DECEMBER 9, 2022 – The Phivolcs recorded a 4.3 magnitude earthquake in Maguindanao del Norte today.

Most of the time, quakes hit with no prior signs. Recently, several places in and out of the Philippines were shaken by quakes of different magnitudes.

One of the strong quakes recorded by Phivolcs was the 7.1 magnitude quake in Davao Oriental. There were expected aftershocks due to the said quake and a tsunami advisory was released.

Previously, Phivolcs also recorded a quake in a part of Zambales. It had a magnitude of 6.1. Strong shaking was felt leaving people fearing about the so-called “Big One“. But the agency advised the people to wait for factual information and not to panic.

Recently, a quake hit a part of Maguindanao del Norte, December 9, 2022. Datu Blah T. Sinsuat was hit by an earthquake with a magnitude of 4.3.

According to Phivolcs, the earthquake today December 9, 2022 that hit a part of Maguindanao del Norte was located at 07.17°North, 123.67°East – 040 km North 74° West of Datu Blah T. Sinsuat with a depth of origin of 030 kilometers.

Phivolcs stated in its bulletin that there may be damages from the said quake but aftershocks are not expected. According to the agency, Intensity II was felt in Zamboanga City. Instrumental Intensity II was recorded in the same area as well.
