PAGASA Says LPA Trough and Amihan to Bring Rains Over Parts of PH

The state weather bureau PAGASA reported that the trough of a low pressure area and amihan will bring rains and rain showers throughout the entire country.

On Monday (January2, 2023), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. A low-pressure area and the northeast monsoon will affect the country’s weather condition.

PAGASA reported that a low-pressure area has been spotted at 870 kilometers east-southeast of southeastern Mindanao. The LPA has a slim chance of developing into a tropical cyclone.

The Trough of Low Pressure Area (LPA) will be affecting the eastern sections of Visayas and Mindanao while the Northeast Monsoon will be affecting Luzon.

Pagasa weather specialist Obet Badrina said the trough of LPA outside the Philippine area of responsibility will bring cloudy weather condition with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms to Eastern Visayas, Central Visayas, and the Caraga and Davao regions in Mindanao.

The Northeast Monsoon will also bring cloudy conditions with rains over Cagayan Valley, Aurora, Quezon, and Bicol Region.

The amihan will also bring partly cloudy to cloudy weather conditions with light rains over Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon. The remaining parts of the country will experience similar weather condition due to the two other weather systems.

The weather agency has also warned the public for possible flash floods or landslides may result due to moderate to at times heavy rains.
