Message of Pres. Bongbong Marcos on Rizal Day Celebration Today

BONGBONG MARCOS – The 65-year-old President gave a message on the celebration of the 126th Rizal Day in the Philippines today, December 30, 2022.

The Philippines have several heroes whose memory and legacy are commemorated every year. They fought for the liberty of the Filipino people and the country from colonizers. Some of then fought with weapons while there are a few who fought with pen and words. All of them risked their lives to free the country.

One of those who fought for the country’s freedom from colonizers through his writings was Dr. Jose Rizal, the national hero of the Philippines. He died on December 30, 1896 in the hands of the Spanish Army troops.

Today, the country is commemorating the 126th anniversary of the death of Dr. Jose Rizal. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, Pres. Bongbong Marcos led the flag-raising ceremony held at Rizal Park and offered wreath of flowers.

In his message, Pres. Bongbong Marcos encourage the Filipino people to embody the perseverance and patriotism of Dr. Jose Rizal. He stressed how the national hero exerted efforts to enlighten the Filipinos about corruption and colonization but not through uprising instead “peaceful protest”.

According to the President, he hopes that the determination of Dr. Jose Rizal “to achieve real change” will make Pinoys vigilant about the societal problems that may put the liberty of the people at risk.

Based on the report, Pres. Bongbong Marcos futher expressed that true heroism is not only in giving one’s life to the country but fighting one’s silent battles as well “to bring about a better future we wish to see for the present and succeeding generations”.
