PAGASA Says Amihan & Shearline to Affect PH Weather Condition
The state weather bureau PAGASA reported that the shear line and amihan will bring chilly weather over most parts of the country.
On Wednesday (December 21, 2022), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. The northeast monsoon and shearline will affect the country’s weather condition.
PAGASA reported that a Low-Pressure Area was spotted at 210 km East Northeast of Davao City. The Shear Line will be affecting the eastern section of Southern Luzon while the Northeast Monsoon will affect the rest of Luzon.
The northeast monsoon or locally known as Amihan will bring cloudy weather condition with rains over Metro Manila, Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region, CALABARZON, and Aurora.
“Northeast monsoon or amihan pa din ang umiiral dito naman sa nalalabing bahagi ng Luzon kung saan dala pa rin nito ang malamig na panahon at ‘yung maulap na kalangitan na may pag-ulan, lalong-lalo na ‘yan dito sa may bahagi ng northern Luzon, maging sa eastern section din ng southern Luzon at dito na rin sa Metro Manila at sa mga karatig lalawigan nito,” Pagasa weather specialist Grace Castañeda said.
The shearline will bring similar weather condition over Bicol Region, Eastern Visayas, Central Visayas, Caraga, and Davao Region.
Amihan will bring partly cloudy to cloudy weather condition with light rains over rest of Luzon and the remaining parts of the country.
The weather agency has also warned the public of possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to at times heavy rains and severe thunderstorms.
Meanwhile, the coastal water condition over Luzon, Visayas, and the eastern section of Mindanao will be moderate to rough. The remaining parts of Mindanao will have slight to moderate surrounding sea conditions, according to the weather bureau.
