This is what Coco Martin said about his new series.
COCO MARTIN – “FPJ’s Batang Quiapo” is the next series of Coco Martin and this is what he said about his new project.
Ang Probinsyano is the top-rating series top-billed by Coco Martin which historically ran for seven straight years. This show survived the pandemic and the shutdown of the ABS-CBN network. It was aptly titled “Mission Accomplished” and in his team, it was only Cardo Dalisay who survived.
Shortly after the ending, stories about him making the remake of another FPJ classic “Batang Quiapo” circulated online. To recall, this classic film starred Da King FPJ and Diamond Star Maricel Soriano and Regal Film was the producer of this.
And just recently, it has been confirmed. Coco will lead, co-direct, and produce the remake of this classic film. He will be working alongside Lovi Poe who is very happy about her inclusion in this remake of his father’s film.
Apart from Lovi, veteran actress Charo Santos-Concio will also be a part of the remake. The other actors are Benzon Dalina, Mark Lapid, Ronwaldo Martin, Ping Medina, Mercedes Cabral, Alan Paule, Susan Africa, Tommy Abuel, Pen Medina, Cherry Pie Picache, Lito Lapid, John Estrada, and Christopher De Leon.
In a report from ABS-CBN, Coco raised his concern about how tough it would be to shoot in Quiapo, a very busy place in Manila. But he believes that they can do it because God is with them.
“Isa siyang napakagandang kuwento, konsepto, kasi napaka-rich ng kultura,” he said referring to their project that will surely deliver a modern spin-off in the remake.
He added based on the report, “Kung ito ‘yung gusto o hinihingi ng mga tao, bakit hindi ito ‘yung ibibigay o ihahain namin sa ating mga manonoood?”
In the classic film, the story is about a man, a former pickpocket, who had his perspective changed when he was put behind bars. When he returned to Quiapo, he met a woman who wants him to teach him his ways but instead of doing it, he attempted to change her for the better.
