After 31 years of airing, Asia’s longest-running drama anthology “MMK” finally meets its ending. Such an event marks an end of an era on Philippine television. On Monday, the show’s host Charo Santos-Concio announced on Monday that the program will be ending.

The drama anthology, for over three decades, has told the stories of people from different walks of life. These stories have imparted moral lessons and provided inspiration to many people. The stories are read by Charo which the iconic introduction that says: “Dear Charo”.

The program started in 1991 and in 2022, after over three decades, the ending of the program has been announced.

“Hindi na po mabilang ang nasalaysay na kuwento dito sa ‘MMK’ — mga kuwentong totoo, mga salamin ng sarili ninyong buhay na nagbigay ng aral at ng panibagong pag-asa,” she said.

As the show’s host ever since, she expressed that if she will be given the chance to do the role again, she would and further that 31 years is never enough to thank the support MMK has received from the people.

“Gusto ko pong magbigay-pugay sa lahat ng nagpadala ng sulat, sa aming mga direktor, writers, researchers, production staff, at sa lahat ng naging bahagi ng aming programs. Sa mga artistang gumanap, maraming, maraming salamat. Sa management ng ABS-CBN, sa aming mga sponsors at higit sa lahat sa inyong mga tagapanood, kayo po ang nagsabing makahulugan sa inyo ang aming ginagawa,” she said.

Several stories of the program have reaped recognition here and abroad. Both seasoned and upcoming stars have become a part of the show.

However, the pandemic and forced broadcast shutdown of the network have made the show endure the consequences.

Before ending on December 10, MMK will have a three-part episode to air starting November 26 to mark its 31st anniversary.
