PAGASA Releases Latest Weather Update for Thursday (October 20, 2022)

LATEST WEATHER UPDATE – The state weather bureau PAGASA has raised signal no.1 in several areas due to Tropical Depression Obet.

On Thursday (October 20, 2022), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. Tropical Depression Obet will continue to affect the country’s weather conditions.

PAGASA reported that Tropical Depression Obet has been last spotted 805 kilometers east of extreme Northern Luzon. It has maximum sustained winds of 45 kph and gustiness of up to 55 kph while moving 15 kph in a west-southwest direction.

The shear line will bring cloudy weather conditions with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region, Ilocos Region, Central Luzon, and the northern portion of Quezon including Polillo Islands.

The localized thunderstorms will bring partly cloudy to cloudy weather condition with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms over the entire Visayas, Palawan including Kalayaan Islands, and Occidental Mindoro.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country will also experience similar weather condition.

The weather agency has also warned the public of possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to at times heavy rains and severe thunderstorms.

PAGASA also raised Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1 in the following areas:

  • Batanes
  • Babuyan Islands
  • Northeastern portion of mainland Cagayan

“Ngayong umaga, nagtaas na tayo ng Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1 sa ilang mga lalawigan ng northern Luzon. Particular na dito sa Batanes, Babuyan Islands, at sa northeastern portion ng Cagayan. So sa mga nabanggit kong lugar, asahan natin na within the next 36 hours, mararanasan natin itong mga pagbugso ng mga hangin na dala ni Obet,” weather specialist Daniel James Villamil said.
