PAGASA Releases Latest Weather Update for Wednesday (October 19)

The state weather bureau PAGASA reported that a low-pressure area inside PAR has developed into Tropical Depression Obet.

On Wednesday (October 19, 2022), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. The low-pressure area and shear line will affect the country’s weather conditions.

PAGASA reported that the low-pressure area inside the Philippine area of responsibility has developed into a tropical depression. Obet has been last spotted 1,045 kilometers east of extreme northern Luzon.

Obet has maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour and gustiness of 55 kph.

“Kaninang alas dos ng umaga, ang low pressure area na ating mino-monitor sa silangang bahagi ng Luzon ay naging isang ganap na bagyo at binigyan natin na lokal name na Obet,” Pagasa weather forecaster Daniel James Villamil said.

The Southwesterly Surface Windflow will bring cloudy weather conditions with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Eastern Visayas. The shear line will bring similar weather conditions over Batanes, Cagayan including Babuyan Islands, Ilocos Norte, and Apayao.

The localized thunderstorms will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over The rest of Visayas, Palawan including Kalayaan Islands, and Occidental Mindoro.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have the same weather condition.

The weather agency has also warned the public of possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to at times heavy rains and severe thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, the coastal water condition over northern Luzon will be moderate to rough. The rest of Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao will have slight to moderate surrounding sea conditions.
