PAGASA Says Tropical Depression Neneng to Bring Rains Over Parts of PH

The state weather bureau PAGASA reported that Tropical Depression Neneng will bring rains over some parts of the country.

On Saturday (October 15, 2022), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. Tropical Depression Neneng will affect the country’s weather condition.

PAGASA reported that the Tropical Depression “Neneng” has been last spotted at 585 km East of Calayan, Cagayan. It has maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 70 kph.

Neneng will bring cloudy weather condition with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms over Bicol Region, Northern Samar, Oriental Mindoro, Romblon, Marinduque, Western Visayas, Occidental Mindoro and Palawan including Kalayaan Islands.

The localized thunderstorms will bring partly cloudy to cloudy condition with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms over rest of Visayas.

Moderate to heavy with at times intense rains are expected over Batanes, Cagayan including Babuyan Islands, Apayao, Kalinga, Abra, Ilocos Norte and Ilocos Sur.

The northern portion of Isabela and the rest of Ilocos Region and Cordillera Administrative Region will have light to moderate with at times heavy rains.

“The trough of NENENG and the convergence of its circulation with the southwesterly winds may also bring occasional rains over the western portions of MIMAROPA and Western Visayas,” PAGASA said.

The tropical depression is expected to turn more westward until Saturday morning or afternoon or noon before turning more west northwestward.

Meanwhile, the coastal water condition over Northern Luzon will be rough. The eastern sections of Central and Southern Luzon will have moderate to rough surrounding sea conditions.

The remaining parts of the country will have slight to moderate coastal water condition.

TCWS No. 1 has been raised in the following areas:

  • Batanes;
  • Cagayan including Babuyan Islands
  • The northern and eastern portions of Apayao the extreme northern portion of Isabela
  • The northern portion of Ilocos Norte
