Andoy Ranay shared his experience working with James Reid and Nadine Lustre
Filmmaker Andoy Ranay revealed something about the first onscreen kiss of former reel and real-life partners James Reid and Nadine Lustre.
James and Nadine, who were known as the JaDine love team, first worked together in the movie Diary ng Pange in 2014 under Viva Films and were directed by Direk Andoy.
Through that movie, their showbiz popularity skyrocketed. They gained fans, and the JaDine fandom was established.
In a recent interview on Ang Walang Kwentang Podcast hosted by Antoinette Jadaone and JP Habac, based on the article in Bandera, Direk Andoy Ranay revealed that James Reid and Nadine Lustre did not feel awkward or any hesitation when they did their kissing scene.
Direk Andoy shared that Viva’s Boss Vic del Rosario told him to launch Nadine and James as the newest love team of Viva, like the tandem of former couple Megastar Sharon Cuneta and seasoned actor Gabby Concepcion before.
“Sabi ko, hmmm. Ano bang hindi ginagawa ng love teams ngayon sa unang pelikula? Ay, maglaplapan!’” Direk Andoy shared. He asked Nadine and James if they were okay with the onscreen kiss. James answered, “Okay po” and Nadine’s response was “Sure!”
From that movie, the JaDine continued doing more projects together. Eventually, they became a couple in real life. Fans continued supporting their projects, especially when they became a couple. They were known as among the biggest loveteams of their generation, with KathNiel (Kathryn Bernardo) and LizQuen (Liza Soberano and James Reid).
However, they broke up in 2019, but they remained friends, despite the cheating allegations that surfaced against James.
Currently, Nadine Lustre is in a relationship with Siargao-based businessman Chris Bariou, while James Reid’s relationship with social media personality Issa Pressman was made public in 2023.
