Police Hunts Man Who Steals Banana For Shooting his Neighbor for Reporting Him to Owner
QUEZON – A man stealing banana shoots his neighbor for reporting him to the owner at Barangay Bukal in Tiaong, Quezon.
The police authorities are currently looking for a man identified as Manuel Mailig for shooting his 43-year-old neighbor named Nilo Alvarez. Mailig committed the crime due to a misunderstanding.
Mailig reportedly went to Alvarez’s house at Barangay Bukal in Tiaong, Quezon, and shoot the victim using a .38 caliber firearm. The victim suffered multiple gunshots but luckily survived.
The suspect immediately escaped after committing the crime. Mailig who used to steal bananas from a vacant believes that Alvarez allegedly reported him to the owner, according to Tiaong Police Station Police Lieutenant Colonel Marlon Cabatana.
“Sa mga nakaraang araw lang din, marami kasing nawawala din na saging. Eh siya [suspek] ang naisumbong. Parang ang lumalabas ay siya lahat yung nagnanakaw kaya nagalit itong si suspek,” Cabatana said.
Cabatana said that the suspect expressed his willingness to surrender but did not show up. The victim’s family could not contact Mailig as of this writing. The police authorities are already preparing charges of frustrated murder against the suspect.
“Kaya lang hanggang sa ngayon ay hidn na rin po ma-contact ng pamilya. Hindi na rin namin ma-locate kung saan yung kinaroroonan nitong ating suspek. I guess negative na yung surrender nito,” the police officer added.
The gunman’s family has yet to give a statement regarding to the incident
