This is how President Bongbong Marcos addressed these issues.
BONGBONG MARCOS – In a first interview after assuming the presidency, President Bongbong Marcos addressed these issues.
For the second time around, Toni Gonzaga will be interviewing President Bongbong Marcos, the first one-on-one interview that the president has granted ever since he assumed the highest position. In a previous article, ALLTV actress-host shared the teaser of the interview on her YouTube talk show Toni Talks.
And in this interview, the president addressed several issues including his Php 203 billion estate tax, the renaming of Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA), death penalty, choosing his cabinet members, the designation of Vice President Sara Duterte, prioritizing the agriculture department, and many others.
Regarding the Php 203 billion estate tax, he is open to discussing this matter in the proper venue. This way, they are able to discuss the things they were not able to say before. They also wanted this issue resolved.
“We’re actually encouraging that this finally be resolved because I don’t want to make a legal opinion for which I am not qualified. But rather to say, we were never allowed to argue because when this case came out we were all in the US,” he said.
As for the other issues, he doesn’t see any sense in rejoining ICC. He believes that the country can handle its own cases and doesn’t need any foreigners to deal with the cases. Such a decision is not a violation of human rights for him but such an issue is rather a “question of jurisdiction and sovereignty”.
In renaming the NAIA, he doesn’t mind at all. If the people would want it and the movement will receive public support, they can go ahead. The renaming of the airport is not a priority at all to him.
He also talked about the economy. Accordingly, he wants it transformed not recovering. He expressed, “Because I don’t want to recover the economy to what it was in 2019. I want to transform it to be ready for the shocks, difficulties that we will face from 2020.”
