EARTHQUAKE – Here are some heartbreaking photos of the aftermath left by the 7.3 magnitude quake in Abra today (July 27, 2022).

On Wednesday (July 27), the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) recorded a 7.3 magnitude quake in Abra. The earthquake epicenter has been located at 17.63° North, 120.74°East – 002 km North 20° East of Lagangilang.

The quake has a depth of origin of 025 kilometers. The powerful tremor brings severe ground shaking that causes damage to the walls and shut down power lines in several areas across the province. Intensity IV was even felt in Quezon City.

Metro Manila and nearby provinces also felt the strong tremor. The agency is expecting more damage and aftershocks after the earthquake. The tremor has already caused damage to numerous properties in different parts of Luzon.

The tourist destination Bantay tower in Bantay, Ilocos Sur nearly collapsed during the violent shaking. The front portion of the Vigan Cathedral was also damaged due to the incident.

The office employees at leasing space in One West Tower in Clark Freeport, Pampanga rushed out of the establishment to escape the severe ground shaking.

Baguio Mayor Benjie Magalong has declared work and class suspension for both public and private establishments after the quake. The Angeles University Foundation in Pampanga province also canceled classes and office operations.
