The wedding of Coach Julius Naranjo and Olympic gold medalist Hidilyn Diaz will happen on the same day she got the gold medal. The ceremony will be on July 26, 2022, at St. Ignatius Church in Baguio City. This date is exactly a year after that historic event in weightlifting for the country.
And circulating online is the list of their star-studded wedding entourage. Among the principal sponsors is former vice president Leni Robredo who is now the Angat Buhay NGO chairperson.
Other big names spotted include boxing legend and former senator Manny Pacquiao, sports and business tycoons Manny V. Pangilinan and Ramon S. Ang, Teresita Tan Sy-Coson of SM Investments Corporation, Philippine Olympic Committee president Abraham Tolentino, PBA chair Ricky Vargas, and many others.
Actresses Angel Locsin (matron of honor), Judy Anne Santos (principal sponsor), and Iza Calzado (bridesmaid) are also expected to grace the event.
And just recently, in an interview, the couple admitted that Julius offered Hidilyn to sign a prenuptial agreement. According to an interview, this is the only way the coach thought of to prove that he is not after the wealth or material possession of his future wife. This is the way he can prove that his intention to marry her is pure.
Hidilyn and Julius became a couple four years ago. He is her strength and conditioning coach. Naranjo is a Filipino-Japanese weightlifter, at the Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan in 2017. Because of this event, he met Hidilyn and that is where their love story began.
He was immediately drawn to her then. Being a coach and a partner to Hidilyn all at the same time was a bit difficult, he admitted. He gets to experience and witness everything she went through.
But above everything else, he maintained his moral and emotional encouragement to her, the factors he’s given utmost importance as a coach and partner to the female weightlifter.
