It was in 1997 when she passed the BAR examination.

Leni has served in the Public Attorney’s Office (PAO) and she was also the coordinator of the Naga-based legal support group Sentro ng Alternatibong Lingap Panligan (SALIGAN) from 1998 to 2008. In 1987, Leni married Jesse Robredo. He was a former mayor of Naga City and the secretary of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) when he died in a plane crash in 2012. Their marriage was blessed with three (3) daughters – Jessica Marie “Aika” Robredo, Janine Patricia “Tricia” Robredo, and Jillian Therese Robredo. Aika has a master’s degree in public administration from the Harvard Kennedy School while Tricia is a licensed doctor. Jillian is currently a scholar in New York University studying biomolecular science.

Although the mandate of the vice president is only to assume office in the case of the vacancy of the presidency, Vice Pres. Robredo’s Office went beyond as she led numerous relief operations when calamities struck the Philippines; managed a comprehensive COVID-19 response program that offers services like transportation for the frontliners, e-consultation, and vaccination services; and partnered with the local government units for several projects. Before becoming the country’s vice president, she was a representative of the 3rd District of Camarines Sur. She authored 35 bills and passed three (3) laws.
