LENI ROBREDO’S PLATFORMS – Here are the accomplishments of Vice President Leni Robredo and her plans if she wins the May 2022 Elections.

The only female candidate for president in the upcoming poll is Vice Pres. Leni Robredo. She is running as an independent candidate and has tapped Senator Kiko Pangilinan, the vice-presidential bet of the Liberal Party, as her running-mate.

Personal Background:

Maria Leonor “Leni” Gerona-Robredo is a lawyer and the 14th vice president of the Republic of the Philippines. She is the daughter of the late Naga City Regional Trial Court Judge Antonio Gerona and Salvacion Santo Tomas. She is a graduate of the University of the Philippines-Diliman with a degree in Bachelor of Arts in Economics and she got her degree in law at the University of Nueva Caceres. It was in 1997 when she passed the BAR examination.

Leni has served in the Public Attorney’s Office (PAO) and she was also the coordinator of the Naga-based legal support group Sentro ng Alternatibong Lingap Panligan (SALIGAN) from 1998 to 2008. She is also the founder of the Lakas ng Kababaihan ng Naga Federation, an organization that offers opportunities for training and livelihood for women.

In 1987, Leni married Jesse Robredo. He was a former mayor of Naga City and the secretary of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) when he died in a plane crash in 2012. Their marriage was blessed with three (3) daughters – Jessica Marie “Aika” Robredo, Janine Patricia “Tricia” Robredo, and Jillian Therese Robredo. Aika has a master’s degree in public administration from the Harvard Kennedy School while Tricia is a licensed doctor. Jillian is currently a scholar in New York University studying biomolecular science.

Accomplishments:

Although the mandate of the vice president is only to assume office in the case of the vacancy of the presidency, Vice Pres. Robredo’s Office went beyond as she led numerous relief operations when calamities struck the Philippines; managed a comprehensive COVID-19 response program that offers services like transportation for the frontliners, e-consultation, and vaccination services; and partnered with the local government units for several projects. Before becoming the country’s vice president, she was a representative of the 3rd District of Camarines Sur. She authored 35 bills and passed three (3) laws.
