Netizens Slam Delivery Rider For Using & Occupying Sidewalk to Counterflow
The video footage of a delivery rider who used and occupied a sidewalk to counterflow along the road elicits reactions online.
The Facebook page “VISOR” has shared the video footage of a delivery rider who used and occupied a sidewalk to counterflow. The video quickly spread like a wildfire online and garnered various reactions from social media users.
In the video, it can be seen that a Grab food rider has used the sidewalk wherein some pedestrians are walking. The rider slowly moves on the sidewalk and blew its horn while following the pedestrians.
However, the rider’s action causes disturbance and inconvenience to the pedestrians along the sidewalk. In the first place, motorists are prohibited to park or driving on the sidewalk, based on Republic Act No. 4136.
Republic Act No. 4136 Article V Section 52 states “Driving or Parking on Sidewalk. – No person shall drive or park a motor vehicle upon or along any sidewalk, path or alley not intended for vehicular traffic or parking.”
The irresponsible rider can cause an accident on the sidewalk or may place the life of pedestrians at risk for trying to avoid him. The rider has no valid reason to use the sidewalk to counterflow in whatever instances.
